Mac App Store Shows macOS Sierra as “Downloaded” If you go to the Mac app Store and see that macOS Sierra is shown as “Downloaded”, then it means that you either have installed the beta version or the GM build. Question: Q: Mail unusable since upgrade to Sierra When I first upgraded my iMAC to Sierra (10.12), Mail would crash every time I tried to select the 'Sent' folder. Most other folders could be accessed fine; a few would also cause Mail to crash. I have Office 365 Excel 16.10 running on High Sierra (10.13.3). Copying takes several seconds, sometimes cell comments are not viewable at all & often my previously working Hyperlinks to other files in the same folder don't work.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Robert from A known problem? It took from Wednesday, then Thursday and then Sunday spread over several hours of tests, trials, experiments and three Microsoft experts to get the program to load. The last expert told me that loading Microsoft Office into a Mac was a known problem. No one was able to tell me why this happened. And finally I had great difficulty understanding these Microsoft representatives because of a poor connections or because of their enunciation while speaking.

Yes it did go through the long process of downloading all the messages and rebuilding indices (effectively creating the mail folder again from scratch) but the app will still fail when I click on the Sent mail and certain other folders. So there is something amiss elsewhere, I just don't know where to look! Thanks for bringing this up. I've been having the same problem every since I updated to the new operating system.
For Excel, it chokes on larger files. The Mac Office app versions are still, sadly like the 2011 version, 32-bit - the same files in Excel 2013 (Win, 64-bit) work fine. The same files in Excel 2013 (Win, 32-bit) also choke - however, at least on the Windows platform I have choices (of application installs). And, of course, the 32-bit Mac application is, by that architectural restriction not 'allowed' access to very powerful Add-Ins. As for Outlook, there's no parity at all.
Sorry, that is not entirely correct. A clean boot should show all but 2-4gb as available. As you use various browsers and programs the memory available will drop and then go back up when those programs are closed as the memory is released.
